Kitchen tip of the week.

Convection Cooking Information. Part 1

Convection Bake can be used to bake and cook foods on single or multiple racks. It is helpful to stagger items on the racks to allow a more even flow of heat. If the oven is full, extra cooking time may be needed.
When cooking an oven meal with several different types of foods, be sure to select recipes that require similar temperatures.
Cookware should sit in the oven with at least 1" of space between the cookware and the sides of the oven.
Allow the range to preheat before placing food in the oven.
During convection baking preheat, the broil elements and the bake element all heat the oven cavity. After preheat, the convection element will cycle on and off in intervals to maintain oven temperature, while the fan constantly circulates the hot air.
If the oven door is opened during convection baking or preheating, the convection element and fan will turn off
immediately. They will come back on once the door is closed.
■ Reduce recipe temperature by 25°F (14°C). The cook time may
need to be reduced also.

Laundry tip of the week.

Got the Laundry blues?

Make your laundry room more fun!
Bring some color into your laundry room, a fresh coat of paint, new curtains or some framed artwork from your children. Get a new area rug, with a playful pattern, or a laundry room theme. Play some upbeat and energizing music while you sort or fold.

Sleep Tips

•Trips to bathroom.
If you need to get up to use the bathroom avoid bright light. Keep a mini flashlight next to your bed and use it to navigate your way to the bathroom. This will keep you from waking up any more than necessary and allow you to get back to sleep quickly.

Sleep Tips

Nap to make up for lost sleep.
If you need to make up for a few lost hours, opt for a daytime nap rather than sleeping late. This strategy allows you to pay off your sleep debt without disturbing your natural sleep–wake rhythm, which often backfires in insomnia and throws you off for days.
